Teaching Assistants (known as classroom assistants or learning support assistants in some schools) allow the class teacher to concentrate on teaching. Teaching Assistants sometimes work with pupils who have learning difficulties or a disability. Each school sets its own entry requirements and specific education qualifications are required. You’ll usually also need experience of working with children and GCSEs (A* to C or grade 4) or equivalent, in English and Maths.
As for all our appointments you’ll need clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and a current paediatric first aid certificate.
These roles are skilled and you’ll need the ability to build good relationships with children, teachers and parents
organisational, planning and IT skills. Most jobs are in nursery, primary and special schools. You could also work in secondary or independent schools and academies.
